Volksworld Showground

The Volksworld Show is held at the Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, Surrey from the 24th to 25th March 2018.

Please click on this link for directions, or find out more by visiting the official website which is at www.volksworldshow.com

We look forwards to seeing you all there!

Please note that, in the interests of public health and safety, entry will be subject to certain conditions. We will inform you of these once you have expressed your interest.

It is also important to note that, while you do not have to stay with your vehicle, you will need to have your California available approximately between 9am and 6pm on the days of the show as there will be no way of moving your van once it is in the showground.

Volksworld Gallery 2016

In spite of our official photographer having an accident with his camera, we still managed to get a few shots of the action at Volksworld 2016. Just like before Campervantastic presented a super fantastic Cobb Grill to one lucky winner in the “Best In Show” competition!

Plus, of course, thanks to everyone else that made it to our Owners Meet at the show. Click here for info about our 2017 meet and to enter your Cali in to the Show’n’Shine display line-up at VOLKSWORLD 2017!

No Place Like Home – The Hanover Road Trip!

Back in 2014 a group of VW California owners got together for a camping trip to Hanover and a tour of the two factories where the campervans are made.

Hanover Factory TourYou can see the photos by clicking here – but better still, we’re planning on doing it again in 2016. So, if you’re a Cali owner who’s up for an adventure please drop us a line via our contact form and we’ll add you to our guest list.

The story of our road trip was covered by VWT Magazine and appeared in Issue 21 – there is a brief extract below, but you can read the full article by following the links at the bottom.

“The next day was the big one, and an early rise saw everyone poised and ready for the main event – the VW factory tour.

VWT MagazinePietro from VW CV UK had been in collaboration with the Hanover press office for months, and had worked tirelessly to grant us access inside the hallowed grounds of the Transporter factory.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to get really up close and personal with our cameras (we’d imagine to prevent us showing any rivals how and why the T5s are so well screwed together), but it was still a unique opportunity to witness the magic that happens within the walls where the T5, Caddy, Amarok and Porsche Panamera are slotted together.

“Upon meeting Pietro, just outside the factory gate, we were ushered inside and given radio headsets, told the ground rules (any sneaky photos and your camera will end up as part of a T5 in the parts press!) and introduced to our guide for the visit – long-term VW employee, Hanover resident and former Yorkshireman, Terry Forgarty.

“He explained how, in 1956, Transporter production was moved from Wolfsburg to Hanover, following the unprecedented success of Ben Pon’s initial sketches for a Beetle-based Van.”

Roof Corrosion Issues

As many of you know, last year we met the team at Volkswagen Hanover in Germany for the factory tour, and the subject of roof corrosion came up.
The good news is that Volkswagen have informed us that they identified a suitable solution to this problem and that it was caused by an imbalance of metals used in the manufacturing process.
Rest assured, along with repairs being carried out, any repair work itself will also be warranted for up to six years. We were also informed that there may be a waiting list due to the complexity and skills required to complete the repair, hence why there are currently only four centres authorised to carry out the work.
If anyone identifies this as an issue on their Cali then please contact Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Customer Care E-mail: customercare@vwcv.co.uk or telephone: 0800 783 4909.Please not that this only applies to vehicles up to 6 years old and specifically for the UK market – any other territories will need to apply to their respective dealerships.

Do let us know how you get on.
